Outdoor worship services by the river

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching."  --Hebrews 10:25

Among the essential activities in our lives is to worship God with others.  At this time in history, we are not gathering indoors in large groups. Most churches have gone ‘online’ to provide worship experiences. We encourage everyone to take advantage of those opportunities.

However, for those who desire to worship in one of God’s outdoor ‘cathedrals’ ...

  1.   We again will be down by the riverside at 10 am this Sunday for a simple worship experience.
  2.   Details:
    • From the square in Goldsboro, cross the railroad tracks, take immediate left
    • Drive to the far end of the “personal watercraft launching/parking area”
    • Bring your own lawn chair and dress for the weather (which may/may not include a big umbrella!).
    • We’ll distance ourselves from one another
  1. Please keep in mind this virus is VERY serious. It has resulted in death for 2-3% of those who contract COVID 19.  People most susceptible seem to be those with immunodeficiency disorders, autoimmune disorders, lung disease, or otherwise compromised systems. For this particular disease: death is an agonizing, suffocating, painful process!
  2. Be advised: Governor Wolf has added our county to the “stay at home” list of counties in Pennsylvania. Excerpts from the guidelines for this status include:

            ALLOWABLE INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES...

  • Engaging in outdoor activity, such as walking, hiking or running if they maintain social distancing...
  • Any travel related to the provision of or access to the above-mentioned individual activities…
  • Additionally, nothing in this order shall be construed to affect the operations of:
  • Religious institutions.
  1.  Be wise!  If you have elderly or health-compromised members in your family, please stay home. If you are not well, please stay home!  Otherwise, your attendance could be life threatening for someone you know.
  2.   You are our neighbor. We are seeking to love you in every way that we can. We are standing by to support you. Please contact me (call/text/email) concerning your need or concern.

Praying for you and our community,

Pastor Charlie                                                                                                   goldsborocog@gmail.com                                                                                                                 1-724-630-4956

After graduating from Red Land high school and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, I worked several years at Ships Parts Control Center. Jeanne came into my life simultaneous to my sense of a calling for additional training. We moved to Findlay, OH and finished my M. Div. through Winebrenner Theological Seminary. I was ordained by the Churches of God, General Conference and served pastorates in Cumberland, Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties. Desert Storm arose during the mid-point of those assignments and again I sensed a calling and was commissioned as a Chaplain in the US Army Reserves. Three overseas deployments and 24 years later, I retired from the military and have returned to my boyhood home in Etters. Married to Jeanne for four decades now (seems like yesterday), God blessed us with a daughter Sarah and son Zachary, who in turn are both married to great people and have provided five grandsons and one beautiful granddaughter between them! We are so proud of our children and our grandchildren! I am very excited to be part of the Goldsboro Church and to have the opportunity to serve alongside these good folks as we let the light of Jesus be reflected into the lives and fabric of our community.
